In view of the arrival of monsoon season, officials of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) stated that all the necessary steps will be taken to clean Bindal and Rispana rivers properly as soon as possible.
The MCD along with the other departments concerned together will be working to clean both the rivers.
Adding more in this mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ said, “Cleaning Rispana and Bindal rivers is one of the dream projects of chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.
Also, MCD routinely receives complaints of water logging especially from those living near these two rivers.
As the monsoon season is also close we are planning to clean both the river areas properly so that people suffer less from the water logging problem in the city.”
Municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said, “As the monsoon season is not far, cleaning the Rispana and Bindal is among our top priorities.
We recently had a meeting with district magistrate SA Murugesan, Mussoorie Dehradun Development Board (MDDA) vice chairman Ashish Shrivastav and other officials.
The main problem is that a majority of areas in these two rivers have been covered with garbage.
After the start of the rainy season it will be difficult for the people living near the area. Sometimes the rain water enters houses of the people.”
Talking about the work plan Pandey said, “The Dehradun DM has assured to conduct a meeting with the irrigation department.
The work plan is that the irrigation department will help us with an overall idea of the garbage that is present in both the rivers, the depth of the rivers and other information. These facts and figures will be provided to us by the irrigation department.
As soon as we will be provided with the data, we will start the work of cleaning the rivers.”It is pertinent to mention that the vehicles which will be used for the cleaning the rivers will be provided by Uttarakhand Housing and Urban Development Authority and the fund will also be released by district disaster management fund.
“We have been assured that these departments will help us to clean the rivers. Along with this, we will also talk to the four MLA’s of the areas concerned to help us with their development funds,” Pandey added.
