Revival of sick industries in Jamshedpur to be major poll plank

Sunday, 31 March 2019 | PNS | Jamshedpur

With several manufacturing units hit by slowdown in production at Tata Motors’ plant here and closure of other major industries like Tayo, revival of industrial belt will be a major poll plank in entire Kolhan region in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

According to experts, industries are spread in both parliamentary constituencies of Jamshedpur and Singhbhum and parties will try and woo voters from both the seats.

A JMM leader said that if voted to power his party will work to revive sick industries in Jamshedpur. He said that his party is concerned over the plight of the workers in Kolhan.

“The present MP Vidyut Baran Mahto has failed in all areas. We will assure the people that if voted to power, we will bail out all the industries reeling under crisis. We have been advocating the theory of promoting Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and reviving all sick industries with a strong commitment to monitor the functioning of SMEs where Government and financial institutions have put their steps. SMEs must be put up in a remarkable area where Government will provide infrastructure.  The most important factor is to create environment for attracting investment and looking back to the steps taken by the various government,” noted Ram Das Soren, district president of JMM. He said that the party will take voters of industrial belt into confidence.

Straitening his guns on sitting MP from Jamshedpur JVM leader Abhay Singh alleged that BJP MP has been beating drums about achievements rather than focusing time on his constituency. He also said that Mahto failed to fulfill all the promises he made during election in 2014. The leader claimed that the voters of Jamshedpur will teach him a lesson this time.

Tata Motors drastically cutting production to tide over tough times vendors and auto ancillary units at Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (AIADA) are facing perhaps their toughest challenge.

Shutting down of Tayo Rolls Ltd will also be major issue during the polls. The company stopped production since August 2016 as the company was incurring huge loss since the past five years.  Tayo Rolls Limited (formerly Tata-Yodogawa Limited) was a metal fabrication and processing company headquartered in Jamshedpur and a subsidiary of Tata Steel. Tayo Rolls' products are primarily cast rolls, forged rolls, special castings and pig iron.

Meanwhile, Anil Modi, spokesperson of district BJP said that steps will be taken to boost the industries. “BJP Government has taken several initiatives in this regard” he said, adding that the nation is gripped with fervour of Modi wave and no one can stop Narendra Modi from

becoming the Prime Minister again. He claimed that in all the 14 seats BJP is having an edge in compare to all the parties.
