RDC (Central) Anil Kumar Samal visited the District Headquarters Hospital as well as the Fakir Mohan Medical College Hospital, on Wednesday and took the stock of the situation.
He mainly inspected and oversaw the number of beds in the hospital, cleanliness, food standard of Aahaar centre, supply of free medicines and other sophisticated diagnostic facilities available to the patients etc.
Samal took food of Aahaar centre along with other high officials including district Collector K Sudarshan Chakraverthy, ADM Sambit Nayak, CDMO Banarji Prasad Chhotray, Dean of medical college Dr Pratap Rath, Superintendent of the college Dr Sudhir Gosh, hospital manager Manasruti Jena and others.
Samal went around the wards, MCH, medicine ward, Niramaya centre and asked the patients and attendants about the service they were supposed to get and receiving.
Several patients as well as their attendants alleged that they had to wait for a long period for getting ultrasound, CT scan etc, besides they were not getting medicines from the counter touts , at times , exploiting them.
He asked the officials to procure adequate medicines within the available funds as well as steps to combat the menace of touts in the DHH campus. He also urged the officials to take measures to mitigate the pain of waiting period for patients for ultra sound and CT scan etc.
Further , Samal asked all concerned to follow the guidelines as per 5T to ensure timely service and transparency, adding that all the visiting patients as well as their attendants should behave well while rendering their services, supply of adequate standard of cooked food as well as food at Aahaar centre and distribute the available medicines without any hitch.
