Ragini Marco, player of Madhya Pradesh State Archery Academy, exhibiting an impressive performance at World Archery Youth Championship, won a gold medal for the country.
Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Jitu Patwari congratulated her achievement she acquired internationally. Sports Minister Patwari congratulated Ragini Marco and said that the daughters of the state are hoisting the nation by winning medals at international level.
He praised Ragini's brilliant performance in the World Archery Youth Championship and said that Ragini has enhanced the pride of Madhya Pradesh. Archery Academy instructor Mr. Richpal Singh Salaria, who was present on the occasion, also congratulated the Sports Minister. Ragini's father Mr. M.S. Marco (ASI) was also present on the occasion.
Significantly, in the Compound Junior Mix Team event of the competition, Ragini Marco along with Sukhbir Singh of Punjab won the gold medal by defeating the players of Switzerland by 152-147 points in the final. Meanwhile, the state weightlifting competition began here from Friday at the martial arts hall TT Nagar stadium.
130 boys and girls players from different districts of the state are participating in the competition. The competition was played in various weight categories of boys. In the Boys Junior 55 kg weight category played today, Bhopal player Piyush Singh picked up 233 kg gold, Ganesh Kushwaha of Jabalpur lifted silver weighing 186 kg and Monu Rajput of Indore lifted 155 kg and won bronze. In the youth event of the same weight category, Monu Raut of Indore lifted 155 kg, Shivam Tiwari of Morena stood second and 150 kg and Himanshu Nath of Indore finished third in 117 kg. In the 49 kg youth boys category competition, Shajapur player Vijay Prajapati gained 161 kg, Rahul Chahan of Indore 139 and Arjun Singh of Morena lifted 134 kg and secured first, second and third place respectively. Similarly, in the 67 kg youth boys category event, Ashutosh Sharma of Indore won the gold medal by lifting a weight of 233 kg. While Sarwan of Jabalpur lifted the weight of 193 kg and the player of Jabalpur himself lifted the third place by lifting 175 kg. International player and coach in the competition, V.S. Rao, Abjawar Paramjit Singh, judge Vimal Prajapat, international player Sharad Nagar and Bhopal Gym founder Raji Ali Baig informed that this is the first time in the history of Bhopal when 130 players are participating in the State weightlifting competition by participating in the boys and girls category together.
