Senior BJD leader Raghunath Mohanty on Saturday resigned from
the post of Chairman of the Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC) citing personal reasons.
He met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the latter’s residence and tendered his resignation, reports said.
Speaking to reporters, Mohanty said, “I have only resigned as the Chairman of Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation, but I am still with the BJD as the party’s vice-president.”
“BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik will decide whether to field me as a candidate in the Assembly polls or not,” the five-time MLA of the Basta constituency said.
Mohanty was appointed as the OLIC Chairman by Patnaik on May 24 last year being accorded the rank of a Cabinet Minister.
