A 7-feet-long python coiled up in the chassis bar of a truck was rescued at Chhatikuda village under Narla block in Kalahandi district on Friday.
A huge crowd rushed to the spot to witness the rescue operation of the giant snake from the stationary truck.
The truck driver spotted the python wrapped in the chassis at Chhatikuda Square while he was checking pressure of tyres. Being panicked, he informed it to locals.
Getting information, a team of forest officials from Bhawanipatna reached the site. The officials rescued the snake and released it into a nearby forest. Eyewitnesses said the snake weighed about 10 kg. The python was believed to have climbed the truck and coiled in its chassis while it was parked on the road.
