The Vice-Chancellor of the Panjab University, Chandigarh on Friday led a procession of the university on winning the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) trophy for all round performance in sports from the president.
Prof Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor (VC) and all senior PU officials, sports coaches, administrative & ground staff of the Directorate of Sports, students and staff participated in the procession with the trophy. The Vice-Chancellor congratulated all the staff and students for this achievement and assured all possible facilities to be provided to the sports persons for achieving more in the field of sports.
The procession started from the office of Vice-Chancellor, amidst beats of dhol and bhangra by students and staff of PU. The MAKA trophy was taken on an open flower laden jeep with the VC, Prof. Parminder Singh Ahluwalia, Director, Physical Education and Sports, Vikram Nayyar, officiating Registrar and Finance & Development
Officer, Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, Gurmeet Singh, Chairman, Physical Education, Rakesh Malik, Deputy Director of Sports, amongst others.
From VC office, the procession passed through the Arts Block-I and II, Gandhi Bhawan, Law Department, Ankur School, Sector-14 Market, Administrative Block and culminated at VC Office where Kirron Kher,
Member of Parliament from Chandigarh and PU Fellow was present. She congratulated PU and specially the Sports Department for receiving MAKA Trophy.
Throughout the procession, a large number of employees were present for cheering up the officials carrying the MAKA Trophy. Sweets too were distributed on the occasion.
