4.68 LAKH PUNJABIS ENROLLED AS NEW VOTERS

In less than three months, as many as 4,68,059 Punjabis have get themselves enrolled as the new voters Punjab.   The state had 2.04 crore (2,03,74,375) voters till January 31, 2019, and the last date to enrol as voter for 2019 general elections was April 19, 2019, and the tally has gone up to 2.08 crore (2,07,81,211).  

‘PM'S remark may trouble KARTARPUR plan’

Punjab Congress president and party candidate from Gurdaspur Sunil Jakhar, who on Monday took stock of the ongoing development work for construction of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor and performed “ardas” for welfare of humanity, said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's “provocative and irresponsible” statements can create hurdles in Kartarpur corridor project.  Seeking blessings to serve the people for next five years also, Gurdaspur MP said that the Almighty had fulfilled decades-long wish of millions of followers to have “darshan didar” of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur. “But I have apprehensions also as Narendra Modi is indulging in irresponsible and inflammatory statements to gain few political points,” he said.

 ‘NDA IS 'FLOP SHOW' ON UNEMPLOYMENT ISSUE’

Congress Jalandhar MP and Congress candidate from the seat Chaudhary Santokh Singh on Monday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a ‘flop show’ when it comes to job creation and addressing the issue of unemployment, as it (unemployment) is record time high now in the last 45 years. “Make in India and Start up India are fake statements as unemployment is highest in the last 45 years, and this will be a huge issue among youth in the ensuing elections,” said Chaudhary during his political meetings in Kartarpur assembly segment.  He said that if voted to power, the Congress party’s focus would be on employment, farmers, and a happy, prosperous and united India.

Amit Shah to address rally on May 5 in Chd

Chandigarh BJP president Sanjay Tandon on Monday said that the party chief Amit Shah will address an election rally here on May 5. Tandon reviewed arrangements at rally ground Sector 25 here. He said that the party workers are working hard to ensure success of this rally. The BJP has requested the party high command to conduct a rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi here. Earlier, the city party unit was pushing Amit Shah’s rally to second week of May but with Shah scheduled to visit Haryana on May 5 to address three rallies, his rally will be held in Chandigarh as well.

 Navjot Singh Sidhu to address rally on May 1

Punjab Minister and Congress’ star campaigner Navjot Singh Sidhu will address a public rally in support of Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Chandigarh, Pawan Kumar Bansal on Wednesday.  Sidhu will be addressing the public rally at open ground opposite Aroma Hotel in Sector 22 here on May 1. Notably, Sidhu’s wife former MLA Navjot Kaur was among the ticket aspirants from Chandigarh parliamentary seat. After being denied ticket from here, she had expressed her displeasure over party’s high command decision.

Kuldeep Bishnoi campaigns for son

Congress leader and MLA from Adampur assembly segment, Kuldeep Bishnoi on Monday said that the Bhajan Lal family and the people of Hisar have a family relations since long. Some disgruntled opposition party leaders are bent upon to disintegrate our unity and brotherhood by hatching a conspiracy.  You have to take your decision wisely during voting, Kuldeep said while campaigning for his son Bhavya Bishnoi, who is Congress’ candidate for Hisar Lok Sabha seat. Kuldeep, son of former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal addressed public meetings in 16 villages of Nalwa Vidhan Sabha constituency and former Finance Minister Prof. Sampat Singh also accompanied him.

 Former Haryana CS joins Congress

Former Chief Secretary SC Chaudhary joined Congress in Rohtak under the leadership of former Chief Minister Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday. Hooda expressed happiness at the development and said that SC Chaudhary’s administrative experience will benefit the party and he will be playing his role in policy formation for the backward  and down-trodden classes of the society. He said that while staying in senior posts,  Chaudhary always worked for the  upliftment of all the sections of society especially the poor people.

Congress  Lok Sabha candidate from Chandigarh and four-time former MP Pawan Kumar Bansal on Monday assured the residents of Kaimbwala that he will ensure development of all villages after a detailed study and will make model villages on the lines of ‘Hauz Khas’ in Delhi, once elected as MP. Former Union Minister Bansal said that the villages have been completely neglected by the BJP, and no development took place in last five years. He said, Kaimbwala was worst hit as construction work of several buildings was stalled as they fall in catchment area, however the BJP MP could have contested the case clarifying that this area doesn’t fall under catchment area.

In view of elections to be held on May 12 for 10 seats of Lok Sabha in the state, Haryana chief electoral officer Rajeev Ranjan said that time has been allotted to registered political parties namely Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), for election campaigning on Doordarshan from May 1 to May 3 and All India Radio on May 6 and May 7. He said that INLD has given time slot of 50 minutes and 40 minutes, on Doordarshan and All India Radio, respectively, while BJP got 10 minutes each, BSP and INC got 5 minutes each on Doordarshan and All India Radio, respectively. Congress party had not applied to take time on Doordarshan.

Permissions to be given online in Haryana

In Haryana, all kinds of permissions requested from Election Commission of India by different departments, under the model code of conduct enforced for Lok Sabha 2019, will be given online. Haryana chief electoral officer Rajeev Ranjan said that during the model code of conduct (MCC), prior permission of advertisement, appointment, inauguration, tender etc and information of provisions related to Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC), would now be given online only.  For this, Login Id’s would be created on cVIGIL portal in the name of Additional Chief Secretaries or Principal Secretaries of different departments from the office of chief electoral officer and one time password would be received on their mobile numbers. A login Id in the name of Chairman, Screening Committee and Haryana Chief Secretary, DS Dhesi has also been created.

Mayawati attacks PM Modi in Haryana

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Monday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that Modi calling himself a ‘Chowkidar’ (watchman) is a drama. The big Chowkidar (Modi) and all small Chowkidars (BJP leaders) will not be able to win this time as people would give them a befitting reply in the elections for the wrong doings in the last five years, Mayawati said while addressing an election rally in Bhiwani. BSP  is contesting the Lok Sabha polls in Haryana in an alliance with Loktanter Suraksha Party of BJP rebel Raj Kumar Saini. At the rally, Mayawati also accused the BJP of dividing the people on the basis of caste and religion.
