Police to keep close watch on snatchers during Puja

To ensure peaceful Durga Puja celebrations, district administration is taking the much needed measures to tackle pickpockets, snatchers and eve teasers. Many women fall victim to snatchers, taking advantage of the crowd.

According to information besides posting of policemen in uniform, security men will also be posted in plain clothes in crowded areas to check teasing and other crimes. Women constables in plain clothes would also be deployed to check such crime. Police officials informed that they have identified places where women could be more vulnerable to such behaviour and extra force has been deployed at such points. Surprise checks would be carried out at places where hooligans are likely to gather and harass passers-by.

“We will keep eye on anti-social elements trying to create disturbance in any area. People should celebrate their festival without any fear. We assure them of peaceful Durga Puja,” said Shivani Tiwari, SP Garhwa.

Sources informed that the SP has also asked all the police station in-charge to give details about their puja pandals in their respective areas so that according to its strength number of forces could be deployed.

The SP appealed the public that the police administration should be informed immediately in case of any suspicious activity, movement or thing is noticed during these days.
