In a major breakthrough, Khunti Police cracked an alleged murder case of a woman within a week and arrested two persons on Monday. The police on Wednesday recovered a semi-charred body of a woman from suburban Khunti, around 50 Kilometers south of State capital Ranchi.
Khunti Superintendent of Police, Ashutosh Shekhar constituted a special investigation team (SIT) for successful investigation of the case in leadership of Khunti, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Ashutosh Kumar Mahli. After arrest of two main accused involved in the case Mahli said that there are five named accused in the murder case of Vinita Tirkey, age 26 years and resident of Argora area of the State Capital.
“There was dispute between deceased and accused Firdaus Rashid, age 33 years, a resident of Church Road under Lower Bazar Police Station in the State Capital. Rashid called Tirkey on December 25 night to go somewhere and took the woman along. When they reached Tiriltoli of Khunti District first they had strangle Tirkey then with intention to hide her body they tried to burn it. Then they left the body in forest area,” said Mahli.
Elaborating about the detail plan of investigation the SDPO said “When the police started identification of the body then it was found the whereabouts of Tirkey. After that we enquired relatives of Tirkey then we found that Rashid and the woman hatched the conspiracy. During investigation they confessed their involvement in the crime. Search of rest of the accused is going on and very soon police will be able to arrest them.”
