PM to lay foundation stone for Jamshedpur Women’s varsity soon

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU) on February 3, online from Jammu. Jamshedpur Women’s College (JWC) is being decked up for the occasion.

Recently, the PMO representative met the Higher Education and Technical Department representative, Kolhan University VC and Jamshedpur Women’s College (JWC) principal to review preparations for the foundation laying ceremony.

The PMO representative also inspected the JWC ground where a huge tent is being erected to accommodate 1,500 students and 300 guests. He took stock of the internet connectivity and technical facilities being provided for the foundation laying ceremony. Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Raghubar Das are expected to be present during the occasion.

HRD representative and official of Rashtriya Uchchatar Siksha Abhiyaan (RUSA) Dr Shambhu Dayal Singh, Kolhan University VC Prof Dr Shukla Mahanty, NEP director Ranjana Mishra and JWC principal Dr Purnima Kumar were also present during the inspection. The PMO representative held discussions with these officials on many points related to the foundation laying ceremony for which the tender has been finalized.

The foundation laying ceremony of Jamshedpur Women’s University by Prime Minister Narendra Modi online from Jammu will be a major event and will entail a cost of Rs 38 lakh.

 JWC principal Dr Purnima Kumar also chaired a meeting of the Board of Studies where a decision was taken to open a centre for Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and Jharkhand Khadi Gramudyog Ayog and commence a six month tailoring course.

The Commission has already provided 25 machines to the College for the purpose. The JWC administration has included this tailoring course in the Skill Development syllabus.

Dr Purnima Kumar stated in the meeting that the tailoring course to be introduced will prove be highly beneficial to skill development. It would be a certificate course, she added.  The fee for the course would be made available on the website.
