Thursday, 28 February 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that the State is ready for the launch of ‘Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan’ (PM-SYM) scheme, which will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 5 and will simultaneously be launched from Jharkhand’s Ranchi and Godda districts on the same day.

Talking to media persons here on Wednesday Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that the State Labour and Employment department is ready for the launch of the ambitious scheme that will cover about 92 per cent of people working in the unorganised sector of State.

“It is for the first time since independence that a Government has thought about the interests of labourers working in unorganised sector. This is a historic decision of the Government that will benefit more and more people of the State and the country. The scheme will include domestic workers, rasoiyahs, street vendors, brick kiln workers, barbers, cobblers, rickshaw pullers, farm labourers, retail sellers, para teachers, cleaning staff, auto drivers among others,” said the CM.

Talking about the eligibility criteria of the scheme the CM said that any person under 18-40 years working in the unorganised sector with monthly income less than Rs  15,000 can get himself registered with the pension scheme. “A member of the scheme will have to contribute between Rs 55 and Rs 200 monthly and the Government of India will contribute the same amount in the pension funds. The member after attaining the age of 60 years will get Rs 3,000 pension for his/her lifetime. After the death of the pensioner, his/her dependent spouse will get half of the pension amount,” said the CM.

Das further informed that the pensioner can withdraw his/her money anytime, which will be given to them with interest.

Talking about the launch of the scheme the CM said that special registration camps will be organised in all districts of the State on March 5, 6 and 7 at Pragya Kendra (Common Service Centres). For registration, one has to submit a self declaration that one’s monthly income is less than Rs 15,000. Also, the CM said that the registration fee at the CSC will also be paid by the Central Government thus making the registration process completely free.
