A petrol station owner sustained critical injuries as miscreants opened fire at him near Someswarpur Chhak under the Satyabadi police limits in Puri district late on Sunday night.
The victim, identified as Srikant Rath, owner of Sujata Filling Station, has been admitted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar for treatment.
According to reports, three-bike borne miscreants arrived at the petrol station at around midnight and tried to loot cash from Rath’s possession. As he resisted their attempt, they fired at him and fled from the spot by their motorcycle.
Police have started investigation into the incident and efforts were on to trace and nab the miscreants.
