People will vote on Rashtavad not Jaativad: Bidhuri

Tuesday, 30 April 2019 | Sapna Singh | NEW DELHI

I am not against Purvanchalis, my identity is Jaat/Gurjar leader though, the matter of fact is Purvanchalis are more loyal to me (BJP) and their number in my constituency is also larger as compared to Jaats/Gurjars. I would say, South Delhi’s fight is not caste or community based fight as people will vote on Rashtavad not on Jaativad," said South Delhi Member of Parliament (MP) Ramesh Bidhuri who is confident of getting re-elected from South Delhi parliamentary constituency against Congress candidate Vijender Singh and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s  Raghav Chadha.

Speaking to the pioneer in an interview, Bidhuri said that water to every kitchen, initializing of Metro Phase -IV work within 100 days , regularization of unauthorized colonies will be on top of his priorities.

"Soon after the Lok Sabha elections, I will tell people, how Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is misleading the masses on full statehood status to Delhi. Why there is no government schools and hospital in my constituency". I want to question him, what trouble he is facing to open government school/hospital in South Delhi. When Mohalla Clinics and schools are everywhere in Delhi, why this 'step motherly' behavior with my people," asked Bidhuri.

Air/ noise pollution from aircrafts operations, shrinking ridge cover, overnight chopping of tress for the constructions of residential cum commercial complex, water scarcity in Sangam Vihar area, illegal construction in Ghitorni area, poor drainage system and never ending traffic problem area the grievances of South Delhi constituency area.

Interestingly, the constituency hosts - rural, semi urban and urban population because the constituency touches the border of two major states of Northern India - Haryana and Uttar Pradesh (UP).

When asked to whom they want to see their leader? People smiled and replied, "The one who is educated and can frame policies with passable assessment on Traffic, Environment , Road lengths with respect to growing population in the area," said a South Delhi resident.

Bidhuri claimed  that is well connected with rural and urban class as well and questioned his opponent Vijender Singh who belongs to Bhiwani in Haryana. "He is an outsider; a boxer, Jaat but not a leader", Bidhuri said. When asked about AAP candidate Raghav Chadha, "He does not exist!", Bidhuri quipped.

Explaining about his connection with masses despite being an MP not Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), he said, "For every failure, Kejriwal blamescentral government, why?"

"In Delhi, we have Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister. The tax payers understand Kejriwal's responsibilities as CM. For education, health, enforcement of environmental laws, water supply to every household, drainage systems are in the jurisdiction of CM Kejriwal, but he failed to deliver, one can see the pathetic condition of water bodies," said Bidhuri.

"With Delhi Development Authority (DDA), I worked for the revival of water bodies in Mahipalpur, Jaunpur and Aaya Nagar," claimed Bidhuri.

From solo rugby ground in Delhi to the regional passport office of 400/220KV to the establishment of 17 Chhat Ghat , the BJP is becoming popular among masses and challenged his opponents for high octane political battle in the constituency.

There are ten assembly constituencies in South Delhi parliamentary constituency namely — Bijwasan , Deoli , Kalkaji, Palam, Ambedkar Nagar, Tughlukabad , Mehrauli , Sangam Vihar , Badarpur and Chhatarpur.
