The Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disability organised a State level para sports meet for persons with disabilities at the Kalinga Stadium on Friday.
Minister of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Public Enterprises, Science and Technology Ashok Panda had inaugurated the sports meet in the presence of department Secretary Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma and Director Bratati Harichandan.
Apart from the play and game, the sports meet witnessed a splendid dance performance by a group of deaf persons following the vibration of music. Another blind group from outside Odisha performed music.
More than 1,500 differently abled students from all over Odisha participated in the final round of para sports meet. They were selected from the district level competitions like tricycle race, short foot throw, chess, music chair, wheel chair race and hit throw etc, held in 30 districts recently.
The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, who distributed prizes to the winners.
