OPDs in pvt hospitals remain shut in protest

As a mark of protest for incidents of violence against doctors in Korba and Bhilai regions, on appeal of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Chhattisgarh Chapter, Out Patients Departments (OPDs) in all the private hospitals and nursing homes of the State remained shut on Wednesday. 

All the OPDs in private hospitals and nursing homes remained closed between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and only emergency services were continued.

Later a delegation led by Dr Mahesh Sinha met Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at state Congress Headquarters Rajiv Bhawan in the afternoon and demanded protection of the doctors.

The IMA had also decided to meet the Director General of Police D.M. Awasthi on Thursday to urge him to sensitize policemen towards the laws prevailing in the state for protection of doctors.
