Ace Odisha para shuttler Pramod Bhagat added another feather to his cap on the last day of the 5th
Turkish Para Badminton International ‘ENESCUP 2019’ at Antalya in Turkey held from March 24 to 30.
Bhagat bagged a gold medal at the final of the para badminton men’s single’s event by beating Japan’s Daisuke Fujihara with a score of 21-19 21-17.
However, the badminton player from Bargarh dirstict of Odisha, paired with Manoj Sarkar lost to Indonesian duo Dwiyoko Dwiyoko and Fredy Setiawan, 21-12 11-21 21-12 while vying for the bronze medal in the men’s double’s event in the same tournament on Friday.
He had won two bronze medals in the last edition of the same tournament in Konya city, Turkey last year. Last month, he clinched two gold and one silver medals at the IWAS World Games in Sharjah.
He is among the five para badminton players to have been shortlisted by the Mission Olympic Cell of Sports Authority of India for Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) in preparation of Tokyo 2020- Paralympic Games.
