The 21st edition of the annual National Organisation for Students of Planning Convention ‘NOSPlan 2K19’ concluded at the UPES. The three-day long convention organised by the Department of Planning and Architecture, UPES on the theme of ‘Parivartan’ was attended by over 660 student delegates from 22 prominent universities and colleges from across India.
The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ presented the awards to the winners as the chief guest at the valedictory ceremony.
The School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi lifted the overall winners trophy followed by College of Engineering, Pune as first runner-up and School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada as the second runner-up. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Dehradun mayor said that students should join together to ensure a drug free society, design and create safe urban areas channelising their youthful energies in the positive direction. He further shared his insights on the role of Urban Local Bodies as the major body safeguarded by 74th constitutional amendment act to provide infrastructure. Briefing the media, UPES senior director Arun Dhand informed that the NOSPlan 2K19 provided each participant an opportunity to gain experiences, showcase skills, analyse and evaluate outcomes and uncover personal aptitude.
“The participants had opportunities to meet new people and make friends from other geographic locations while also providing an exposure and realistic outlook towards competitive nature of real life in such a short span of time besides meeting and learning from eminent dignitaries who added further luster to convention with their gracious presence and valuable contributions,” he said.
The panel discussions were focused on waster and water management, current trends and practices in urban development and management—service delivery and governance, smart cities and IOT, and traffic and transport management.
