The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to open 12 crèche for children of Safai Karamchari (sanitation staff) in its jurisdiction.
The civic body has also announced to conduct a regular counseling process free of cost for its employees especially for safai karamcharis to counsel them to mitigate their personal or psychological stress.
On the occasion, Manhar Waljibhai Zala, Chairman of National Commission for Safai Karamchari and North Delhi Mayor Avtar Singh also inaugurate awareness-cum-health check up camp and distributed awards to sanitation workers for their outstanding contribution in performing their duties.
Sanitation workers were also imparted about Manual Scavenging Act 2013 and about other safety measures while cleaning drainage. Besides, workers were also informed about skill training programme run by centre such as Prime Minister Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
Addressing the gathering, Zala said that organizing such kind of workshops or health camps are very important for them as they never get time to get their basic test done. He said that Government of India and NCSK are working for sanitation workers to impart information to them because due to lack of information they are deprived of the benefits of Government schemes.
The civic body also released schedule for training to 25101 Safai Karamcharis during the month of August 2019 across its six zones to ensure in its jurisdiction.
