A body of a newborn girl was found in a drain near Hazari Bagicha under the Town police limits here on Sunday.
According to reports, locals spotted the baby girl’s body floating in the drain in the morning and informed police about it. Cops reached the spot and recovered the body.
Though the reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained, it was suspected that the newborn was dumped after her delivery. Notably, a number of private nursing homes are located near the drain.
Police started investigation into the incident.
