Selection of three-time Chief Minister Arjun Munda and senior BJP leader in the Union Cabinet may prove a shot in the arm for State BJP unit battling tribal’s resentment over Government policies. The senior leader, considered a tribal icon is known for his acumen in handling tribal politics in the State.
After days of speculations about the names and number of MPs going to be inducted in the Narendra Modi government, Munda took oath as a Union Minister in the second term of Modi led government. The leader is the only MP from Jharkhand to be inducted in the new Central government.
According to State BJP leaders more than Munda’s contribution to the State as a Union Minister in the near future, his efforts to win over the tribal population and gain their confidence will help the State BJP unit in the Assembly elections scheduled to be held before the end of the year.
“He is mass leader and people have undying faith in him. After end of era for Babulal Marandi, Munda Ji is the most respected leader in the State among the tribal communities. He easily connects with the masses and understands their pains and problems. Moreover, he always keeps cool even in difficult circumstances,” said a senior BJP leader requesting anonymity.
Meanwhile, BJP workers and officials celebrated the swearing in ceremony of PM Narendra Modi and his Cabinet ministers by distributing sweets and bursting crackers. During the celebrations the BJP cadres and party’s youth wing members said that they will achieve the target of winning over 60 seats in the Assembly elections this year.
