The Kala Bhoomi-Odisha Crafts Museum, governed by the State Institute for Development of Arts and Crafts (SIDAC), and the Center for Art and Archaeology (CA and A) of the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for digitisation and documentation of artefacts here on Friday.
The Kala Bhoomi preserves the heritage of handicrafts and handlooms of the State and promotes research in this sector. Systematic documentation of artefacts is imperative to advance the sector and create a bank of knowledge. Such knowledge can be generated by digitising all the artefacts in Kala Bhoomi.
The CA and A of the AIIS has been carrying out photo documentation of ancient monuments, sites, museum objects, temples at various sites in India since 1965. Keeping this experience in view, the Kala Bhoomi entered into an agreement with the CA and A for carrying out photo documentation and metadata preparation of the artefacts in the museum.
SIDAC Member Secretry Sitikant Sarangi signed the MoU on behalf of Kala Bhoomi- Odisha Crafts Museum.
