Expressing happiness over the Geographical Indications (GI) tag to Odisha Rasagola, BJD members in the State Assembly on Tuesday
urged the State Government to take steps for availing GI tag also to ‘Arisha Pitha’, ‘Kakara’ and ‘Rasabali’ at the earliest.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, MLA Debi Prasad Mishra said the availing of GI Tag to ‘Odisha Rasgola’ is a matter of pride for all Odias. There are also other food items which are specially prepared in Odisha and are found in Menus in other States and foreign countries. ‘Arisha Pitha’, ‘Kakara’ and ‘Rasabali’ are some of such items. The Government should take all steps to avail GI Tags to these items soon.
Another BJD MLA Prafulla Samal also raised the issue and supported Mishra’s demand.
Meanwhile, MSME Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra told reporters that the Government would further try to secure GI tags for ‘Arisa Pitha’ and ‘Chhena Poda’ as well.
