Two minors allegedly committed suicide late on Tuesday night consuming poison over disapproval of families for their marriage at Goudakankadaput village under Lakshmipur block in the district.
The deceased girl worked as a daily labourer and the boy was a Class VIII student of Litiguda Government School in the district.
The duo had eloped around 15 days ago and had returned to their respective homes a few days ago. It is said that the families of the deceased duo were not accepting their relationship and reluctant to marry them off since their return.
With no other options left, the love-struck minors consumed poison and their bodies were found under a tree on Wednesday morning. On being informed, the Kakiriguma police reached the spot and handed over the bodies to their families after postmortem.
