A minor girl was allegedly raped by a youth of her neighbourhood at Tumudibandh in Kandhamal district on Thursday night.
The accused was identified as Sambhu Maharana.
The incident took place when the girl was alone at her home.
According to reports, Maharana broke into the victim’s house taking advantage of absence of her family members and allegedly outraged her modesty.
After committing the crime, he threatened the girl of dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to anyone.
The victim informed her family members about the incident after they returned to house.
A complaint was lodged by the family members on Friday with the local police following which the cops took the accused into custody for interrogation.
