The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun’s (MCD) campaign to remove debris and construction material from the main roads of the city is still going on. The MCD collected a fine of Rs 22,000 from seven people/institutions on Monday who had placed construction material/debris on the roads.
With this campaign at hand, the officials and the staff of the municipal corporation are doing rounds of the city almost every day in order to check those who have still kept the construction materials and debris on the roads.
Actions are being taken and the MCD has collected more than Rs four lakh till now. The collected money has been deposited in the corporation’s funds.
Apart from this, the MCD also took strict actions by seizing the construction material and debris from the construction sites. Whereas sometimes material was collected in the MCD’s campus, there were times when it was placed near the railway tracks or wherever needed. The drive was initiated by the MCD after it was noticed that the construction material placed on the main roads is a problem for daily commuters as it disrupts the smooth flow of traffic.
It was also noticed that there are high chances of an accident or someone getting hurt because of the material placed on the roads. With taking strict actions against the offenders by imposing fine and seizing their construction material, the municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey has been requesting the people not to place the material on the main roads.
The debris and material with becoming a problem for commuters also disrupt daily lives of the people living in that area. He also requested the public to inform the MCD if any kind of construction material is found outside buildings or houses. Citizens can contact the MCD by directly calling on the number 8047097506 or through the medium of Swachhta application MOHUA.
