Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal paid rich tributes to Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das on his 171st birth anniversary held by the Utkal Sammilani here on Sunday.
The Governor remembered the Utkal Gaurav’s contribution in formation of Odisha and promotion of Odia language. “The Utkal Gaurav was a great visionary who could unite Odia speaking regions and formed Odisha. He had dreamt of a bigger and developed Utkal,” Lal said after garlanding Madhubabu statue at Raj Bhawan Square here.
Sammilani president Prof Adwaita Kumar Patra presided over the garlanding ceremony. Among others, general secretary Ananta Prasad Jena, former president Guru Prasad Mohanty, Trilochan Panda, Pradumnya Satpathy, Arun Nayak, Girija Mahapatra and Nilakantha Das were present.
The statue of Madhubabu in Odisha Legislative Assembly premises was also garlanded by Sammilani members.
