People of the Kujanga-Paradip area in Jagatsinghpur district on Friday staged a 15-km-long human chain from Bhutmundai to the Addition District Collector’s Office at Paradip to press for their longstanding demand of establishment of a super speciality hospital at Bhutmundai.
About 10, 000 men and women belong to 20 gram panchayats and under the banner of the Regional Security Council held hands of each other as part of the human chain.
“After establishment of the Paradip Port, 16 middle and mega industries have come up in and around Paradip by now. Everyday some kind of small or big industrial and road accidents are occurring, but there is no hospital to provide quality treatment to the accident victims. We demand that a super speciality hospital established here soon,” urged agitators.
Later, a team of representatives handed over a memorandum, addressed to the district Collector, Jagatsinghur, to the ADM.
Among others, Sribalabh Kar, Raghunath Sahoo, Sanjaya Swain, Pitambar Tarai led the human chain. Kujang Athletic Club president Ranjan Kumar Das said the agitation would be intensified if the demand is not meet soon.
