JPMC seeks prohibition on liquor sale

In a unique agitation against liquor sale in the State, Jharkhand Pradesh Mahila Congress (JPMC) pasted posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Raghubar Das on the liquor shops of city on Wednesday.

Led by JPMS president Gunjan Singh, a numbers of women workers of the party pasted photos of the PM and CM, at various shops including those at Kishorganj, Gadikhana and Dhurwa.

Speaking on the issue Singh said, “The photos of the PM and the CM can be seen in the Government offices so they should also be put up at the Government run liquor shops.”

She added, “Sale of alcohol during the BJP Government has led to increase in crime in the state, especially against women. The government should prohibit liquor sell in the State otherwise JPMC will take the agitation on a large scale.” Demanding ban on liquor sale, city JPMC president, Vinita Pathak said that open selling of liquor has frightened women immensely.
