The Chhattisgarh High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition challenging eligibility of Amit Jogi to contest polls from a tribal reserved seat.
The petition was filed by Sameera Painkra, a contestant who lost the 2013 Assembly polls against Amit Jogi from Marwahi.
In the plea she had also questioned the authenticity of birth certificate and bona-fide residence of Amit Jogi.
Commenting on the judgment, Amit Jogi told The Pioneer that the court had dismissed all the charges of Painkra and had found him eligible for the tribal reserved seats while approving his caste to be tribal as well as the authenticity of date of birth and also the residence proof.
“It was a ‘triumph of truth’ and the judgment of the court is an acceptance and respect to the mandate of people of Marwahi”, he said.
