Jaga and Kalia, the separated conjoined twins who are currently under treatment at the AIIMS, New Delhi, would soon return to Odisha, said National Health Mission (NHM) Odisha MD Shalini Pandit after talks with the hospital’s doctors on Saturday.
Talking to reporters here, she said that according to AIIMS New Delhi doctors, Jaga and Kalia are now ready to get discharged from the hospital. Though dates are yet to be finalised for the twins’ return, the AIIMS New Delhi would soon issue an advisory to the State Government regarding the mode of transportation for their shifting. Accordingly, arrangements would be made by the Government.
Pandit said an AIIMS New Delhi team would accompany the twins when they are shifted to the State.
After Jaga and Kalia reach the State, they would be admitted in a hospital in Bhubaneswar. They would be sent back to their house after their complete recovery, she added.
It may be noted that the craniopagus conjoined twins belonging to Milipada village in Kandhamal district were separated by a team of doctors at the AIIMS, New Delhi after a marathon 21-hour surgery in October 2017.
