nThe BJP on Sunday announced the name of Lachhuram Kashyap as its Candidate for the Chitrakot Assembly by-polls to be held on October 21. Now he will take on Congress candidate Rajman Benzam.
The Chitrakot by-poll has been necessitated after sitting Congress MLA Deepak Baij was elected to the Lok Sabha from Bastar Parliamentary constituency.
“Chhattisgarh BJP had sent the single name of Lachhuram Kashyap to the party’s Central Election Committee for finalisation for by-poll. The approval was received on Sunday afternoon from New Delhi,” state BJP spokesperson said.
Kashyap was Chitrakot MLA from 2003-08 but was made candidate in year 2018 state assembly general election and lost to Congress candidate Deepak Baij by a huge margin of 17,770 votes.
Compared to Kashyap, Benzam is new to electoral field as he is presently holding the post of District Congress President (Rural), Bastar.
