The Lakshya, a Brahmapur-based Film Appreciation Club, is going to organise a two-day international film festival here from January 1, informed Brahmapur Film Festival chairperson and Lakshya president Manoj Kumar Samal at a Press meet on Sunday.
Samal said some selected international award feature films and Oscar award feature films and short documentary films produced by the people of the region would be screened in the event. Ganjam district is rich in art and culture and to preserve the rich cultural posterity of the region the festival would a play pivotal role. The festival is being organised to search the creativity in film making from among the school, college and university students of the region and to prepare them for the magical world of cinema, Samal added.
The objective of the event would be to unfold the next generation actors, directors, cinematographers, choreographers, sound designers and crew related to the production of films and television programmes and to guide them.
Simultaneously, the event also intend to begin a thought process of making a full-fledged film studio here in the silk city in the coming days as it is rich in cultural heritage with blue mountains, beautiful sea beach and surrounded by heritage temples, richest folk forms of art, dance and music, Samal added.
The festival would be held at the Ganjam Kala Parishad here followed by a live seminar on film making techniques on the second day.
The films selected for screening include ‘Udaypur Teertha Kshetra’ of Satish Patra; ‘Achhung’ of Tripati Nayak; ‘Babu Bathroomre Achhanti’ by Golak Tripathy; ‘Sampark’ by Kumud Prasad Acharya and ‘Interview’ by Amulya Ranjan Sahu.
