U Sammilani celebrates foundation day

Bhubaneswar: The Utkal Sammilani, Mancheswar Branch celebrated the Sammilani’s foundation day here on Monday under the chairmanship of branch president Dillip Dashsharma. On the occasion, Sammilani members paid floral tributes at the statues of Sammilani’s founder Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das and first president Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanjadeo at Raj Bhawan Square and Power House Square respectively. Sammilani Bhubaneswar Branch president Bibhuti Mishra, senior member Dr Dwarikanath Mohanty, scribe Nimai Das, Mancheswar branch secretary Govind Chandra Subudhi, joint secretary Ashok Kumar Paltasingh, Subrat Mahapatra, Ketra Mohan Nayak and other also paid tributes.

Bhaktamadhu Sikshakendra honoured

Bhubaneswar: The Bhaktamadhu Sikshakendra, Baramunda was felicitated in the State-level Medhabruti Samman Samaroh (scholarship award ceremony) held by the Bharatiya Siksha Parishad here on Monday. Two girl students, Sunita Swain and Jashaswini Kandi, were awarded and Pradhan Acharya were felicitated for good quality teaching.  School managing committee chairman Bichitrananda Swain and members and parents greeted the students and the Pradhan Acharya.

Old students’ conf held at Centurion Varsity

Paralakhemundi: A two-day old students’ conference was organised at the Centurion University here. University vice-president DN Rao highlighted about various development projects of the institution. Registrar Dr Anita Patro thanked old students for holding such a programme. Dr Prajna Pani remembered some important happenings of the university. First batch student Manoj Nayak, who is placed at Mumbai now, presided over the event. Old students visited various departments of the university. A friendly cricket match was organised on the occasion. While Dr Sushant Pattnaik abd Dr Sangram Keshari Swain coordinated the programme held under the guidance of Deputy Registrar Sandipan Paina. 

Sathyasai Samiti's State conference ends

Paradip: The Sri Sathyasai Seva Samiti's three-day 44th State conference concluded on Sunday at the Port Trust High School premises with various performances by Bal Vikash students and delegates from all districts. Samiti State president Narayan Prasad Sar, State coordinator Antaryami Pattnaik, Dr Sudhansu Sekhar Nayak, heart specialist Dr PK Dash and Bijay Kumar Prusty, who attended the function, spoke about the Seva and Education system of Bhagawan Sathyasai Baba. A Gram Seva programme was also organised at Jagatsinghpur. Over 3,000 representatives joined the function, which was coordinated by Subrat Kumar Rout.

Paradip Mahotsav concludes

Paradip: The weeklong Paradip Mahotsav’s valedictory ceremony was held on Sunday. Paradip Port Trust Chairman Rinkesh Roy, who joined as chief guest, praised  the organisers for hosting such cultural programmes. Among others, Mahotsav committee president Sampad Swain, PPL General Manager Ranjan Kumar Mohanty and senior journalist Bhavani Mohapatra were present as other guests. The event was held from December 23 to 29.

Karate training camp held at Paradip

Paradip: The International Gosoku-Ryo Karate-Do Association (IGKA) organised karate training camp for boys and girls at Panthniwas here on Sunday. More than hundreds participants from different districts participated in the camp. Paradip ASP BC Mishra, Paradip Ladies’ Club senior member Preeti Arati Panigrahi and journalist Sasanka Sekhar Acharya attended as guests. Chief trainer Sanjay Saha and co-trainer Prasanta Biswas trained the students on various techniques of self-defence. IGKA State Coordinate secretary Sanjay Kumar Mishra coordinated the camp.
