Disaster Preparedness Day observed in JSpur
Jagatsinghpur: The Odisha Disaster Preparedness Day and National Day for Disaster Reduction 2019 were observed by the district administration here on Tuesday. Minister Raghunandan Das, MLAs Bishnu Das and Peasanta Muduli, Collector SK Mohapatra, ADM SN Sahoo, Sub-Collector MP Mohanty attended as guests. They recalled the devastation occurred during the 1999 Super Cyclone and discussed post-Fani cyclone restoration works undertaken by the Naveen Patnaik Government. Odisha has become a model State with regard to disaster preparedness and its reduction and has been awarded by the UN for its preparedness, said Das. Later a mock drill was performed by the Iffco Paradip fire personnel.
Python chasing prey lands in trouble, rescued
Malkangiri: An Indian rock python hiding in bushes to attack poultry was rescued here in Malkangiri district on Wednesday. Having consumed several chickens, the 10-feet-long python was hiding in bushes to target more near the garden of a resident, Barun Mandal, at Jhatimati Colony since long targeting chickens. After it was spotted on Wednesday morning, locals informed Snake Helpline members, who caught it. A dead chicken was also recovered from its hiding place.
Paradip Refinery holds Disaster Preparedness Day
Paradip: The Paradip Refinery observed the Odisha Disaster Preparedness Day and National Day for Disaster Reduction on Tuesday. As part of the observance, emergency mock drill was conducted on leakage of LPG from discharge line of IOTL-BOOT-3 product tank area. As per the procedure, all the initiative for firefighting was carried out and situation was controlled followed by all clear sign. Besides, cyclone awareness leaflets were distributed to all the workers and safety march exercises were conducted at 10 different locations inside the refinery. More than 1,700 workers participated in the programmes.
Paradip Refinery observes Vigilance Week
Paradip: The Paradip Refinery is observing the Vigilance Awareness Week 2019 from October 28 to November 3 here. The refinery is holding various activities to propagate the message of this year’s theme “Integrity- a way of life”. The refinery will also conduct a vendor/contractor meet to disseminate the awareness campaign. Earlier inaugurating the VAW-2019, vigilance pledge was administrated by Paradip Refinery ED TDVS Gopalakrishna and message of CVO and IOCL Chairman were read. A ‘Rath’ were also flagged off by Gopalakrishna in the presence of senior officers.
