Two get RI in minor rape case in Baleswar

Baleswar: Special POCSO Court Judge Ajanta Sadangi on Tuesday convicting two accused involved in a kidnap and rape of a15- year- old minor in Soro area in August 2016, sentenced them to undergo 10 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI). The convicts include Muktikanta Pradhan (22) of Sindhua village under Soro police station limits and Ashok Malik (21) of Baula Pokhari village under the Bhadrak Rural police station. Special Public Prosecutor Pranab Panda said during trail of the case, 17 witnesses were examined. “The court pronounced the verdict after going through all documents and questioning the witnesses. Muktikanta while was the principal accused, Ashok was abettor in the crime.”

LoP Mishra opens ‘Krushak Mela’ in Balangir

Balangir: Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Narasingha Mishra opened a block-level ‘Krushak Mela’ at Khujenpali on Wednesday. The mela was attended by villagers, SHG members, PRI members, agriculture, horticulture and veterinary officials. Speakers told about different Government schemes being implemented in the agriculture, horticulture and pisciculture sectors and urged farmers to utilise them.

Vijay Utsav observed at Vyasanagar

Jajpur Road: A Vijay Utsav was observed here on Wednesday after the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully conducted airstrike on JeM terrorist and training camps at Balakot in PoK on Tuesday. The Sahid Bhagat Singh Yubak Sangha observed the festival under the chairmanship of Rajendra Biswal. Lawyer Bibekananda Mohanty, ‘Udayabata’ editor Dusmanta Rout, Chandramani Samal, Biswajit Mohanty, Gyana Ranjan Rout, Niranjan Ghadai and Ittishree Jena spoke praising the IAF taking revenge for the Pulwama attack. Among others, scribe Kailash Rout, Arun Das, Suman Ray, Saroj Dey, Satyanarayan Mohanty and Janmenjay Rout were present.

Nabard DGM visits Balangir projects

Balangir: Nabard Odisha DGM SK Nayak on Monday visited Ghuchipali village, 16 km from here, and interacted with the Board of Directors and shareholders of Bhimpahad Krushak Producer Company Limited (BKPCL). Nayak discussed the business activities undertaken by the BKPCL and suggested formulas for successful and sustainable business model. Balangir Nabard DDM Tapan Sahoo spoke about the growth and achievement of BKPCL since beginning. Nayak also visited Budelguma village where with assistance from Reliance Foundation, a rural market has come up since last five years and is doing well. The Board of Directors of BKPCL shared their experiences.
