Kamal Nath votes along with family

Bhopal: Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Monday voted with his family at the polling station No; 17 of Primary School, Shikarpur in Chhindwara district. In the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, which is being held in four phases in the state, polling is being held in six Lok Sabha seats Sidhi, Mandla, Shahdol, Balaghat and Jabalpur including Chhindwara. Voting is being held for both Lok Sabha and Assembly by polls in Chhindwara.

creche facility makes it easier for Suman Devi to vote

Bhopal: Suman Devi, who took part in polling in Badwara Assembly constituency of Katni district for Shahdol parliamentary constituency, did not have to carry her child while casting vote in the polling booth due to availability of crèche facility at the booth.

Earlier, she would have to face problems as she had to carry her child also while casting vote. Now the Election Commission has arranged crèche facility in every polling station, where anganwadi workers handle the infants. Lactating mothers like Suman are now leaving their infants with the anganwadi worker and casting their vote without any hindrance. Crèches have been arranged in all 299 polling booths though anganwadi kendras for polling in Badwara assembly segment.

Ranjit Singh Mehrolia praises EC

Bhopal: International player Ranjit Singh Mehrolia, 52 has praised the Election Commission for the facilities provided for general voters, women voters and disabled voters in Jabalpur parliamentary constituency. Singh is posted as officer in Indian Railways, Jabalpur.

After voting, he came out of polling booth no; 220 under Jabalpur East Assembly constituency and had cold water. In view of the scorching heat, arrangement of tent has been made outside the polling booth for shade and earthen pots for cold drinking water.

Singh told that while on the one hand, facilities of wheelchair, stick, sign language experts, sign language banner, poster, ramp, Divyang Mitra, western style toilets, vehicles for to and fro transportation has made polling easy for disabled voters, it has also increased their enthusiasm on the other hand. This enthusiasm strengthens democracy.

Ranjit Singh is a hockey coach and an international hockey player. He has won one silver medal each in relay 400x400 and 100 metre race in the Athletics Masters Games Asia Pacific Meet Tournament in Penang (Malaysia).

Tijaua Singh Gond becomes example for voters

Bhopal: Tijaua Singh Gond, 72, from Bodarha village in Sidhi parliamentary constituency, became an example for the voters of her village. Despite disability in both legs, Tijaua left all work and first cast her vote in the morning. She also gave message to all the voters of her village to cast their votes.

Tijaua said that good facilities were provided for voting by the Election Commission. When she reached the polling station, she did not have to wait in queue and was allowed to vote first. This is a very good initiative. She said that everyone has got equal right to vote in the country. We should strengthen the democratic system by using this right.

Disabled voter lauds Election commission

Bhopal: Asha Kushwah, 34-year-old disabled voter of Nebuha West polling station of Sidhi parliamentary constituency has praised the facilities being given to the disabled voters by the Election Commission. According to Asha, the Commission has not only provided facilities to exercise their franchise but has also given us respect. Asha is happy with both the things.

This year, the Election Commission has given special facilities to the elderly and disabled voters. Ramp and wheelchairs have been arranged at each polling station along with free transport to bring them to the polling station and leave them back. In addition, they have the facility of direct voting without standing in line. The polling station also has toilet facilities, drinking water, shade and Divyang Mitras besides other facilities. Voters used these facilities to cast their votes comfortably. Owing to the efforts of the Commission, there was active participation of all disbaled voters in this grand festival of the country.

Polling day like fest for Vaishali Soni

Bhopal: Polling day was no less a festival for Jabalpur's 20-year-old mentally challenged Vaishali Soni. She was very excited and happy about the use of franchise since morning.

Vaishali reached polling station number 44 at Government Engineering College along with her maternal uncle Rajkumar Soni and cast her vote with the help of Divyang Mitra Bablu Chourasia. Vaishali seemed happy to see the beautiful decoration of the pink polling booth alongside her booth. On reaching the polling station, Divyang Mitra Shri Chaurasia offered cold water to Vaishali and helped her to sit on a wheelchair provided by the Election Commission and helped her complete the process of polling.

Vaishali's uncle Rajkumar Soni was very happy to see his niece’s happiness. He praised the facilities provided to the disabled voters to make voting easy.

90-year-old shows real tryst with democracy

Bhopal:Taking part in the grand festival of democracy, 90-year-old Sakhi Bai also cast her vote in polling station No. 44, at the Mechanical Engineering building of Government Engineering College, Jabalpur. Due to old age, Sakhi Bai could not stand for too long, but was determined to vote to ensure her contribution in forming the government. Her age did not come in the way of her firm determination.

Sakhi Bai had heard that improved arrangements have been made to provide facilities to voters in this election. When she reached the booth, workers and Divyang Mitra deployed there assisted her in the polling process. The senior citizen who had come to cast her vote accompanied by her grandson Harsh Verma, seemed quite happy with the assistance being provided during polling.

Expressing joy on seeing women working in the pink polling booth, Sakhi Bai said the Election Commission has made excellent arrangement for women.

65-year-old handicapped used Ec facilites for voting

Bhopal: Sixty five year old Somvati while using the facilities provided for the handicapped by the Election Commission casted her vote at the polling booth no. 218 under the Assembly constituency East Jabalpur of the parliamentary constituency Jabalpur. She expressed happiness after casting her vote and for her participation in the parliamentary election.

The handicapped voter, Somvati casted her vote comfortably at the polling booth, owing to the facilities provided by the election commission like wheelchair, ramp and Divyang Mitra only. She says that in absence of these facilities, it was difficult for her to come out of the house for casting vote. Somvati feels inability to walk because of the joints pain and illness. She lauded the facilities being provided by the Election Commission for comfortable voting for elders, women, handicapped, youth and others.

Jabalpur  Municipal exhorts women to vote

Bhopal: In order to encourage women, a wide range of arrangements have been made by the Municipal Corporation, Jabalpur for the Parliamentary Election-2019 in Jabalpur. Along with transforming polling booths into pink booths, where women voters are in excess, a selfie point had also been made here for women, which became center of attraction for all. Arrangement of sheds and drinking water were made at the polling booths, which enabled women in protecting themselves from the scorching heat. Moreover, special attention was also paid to the attractive decoration at the pink polling booths.
