‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge' to be observed
Chandigarh: Haryana Government has decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge' (National Unity Day) on October 31. A spokesman said, on this day, a pledge taking ceremony would be organised in front of the VIP entrance at the ground floor of Haryana Civil Secretariat here at 11 am, in order to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of the nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity, and security of the country. The function will be presided over by Haryana Chief Secretary, Keshni Anand Arora. He said that all the Government officers/officials working in main Haryana Civil Secretariat Building and New Haryana Civil Secretariat Building have been directed to attend the pledge taking ceremony.
Over 58.08 l MT paddy arrived in Hry mandis
Chandigarh: More than 58.08 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy has so far arrived in Haryana mandis as compared to over 57.23 lakh MT of paddy arrived during the corresponding period last year. A spokesman said, out of the total arrival of paddy, Government agencies had so far procured over 55.79 lakh MT of paddy whereas the remaining quantity of over 2.29 lakh MT of paddy was procured by the millers.
Over 30.88 lakh MT of paddy have purchased by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department. Over 17.08 lakh MT by Hafed, over 7.79 lakh MT have been purchased by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 2,556 MT have been purchased by the Food Corporation of India. More than 15.79 lakh MT paddy has arrived in mandis of Karnal followed by 10.98 lakh MT in Kurukshetra and over 7.45 lakh MT in Ambala.
9.55 lakh MT paddy procured in Punjab
Chandigarh: The Government agencies and private millers have procured 9559397 metric tonnes of paddy in Punjab till October 29 while payment worth Rs 10810.37 crore has been transferred to the accounts of arthias/farmers by the government, rendering MSP benefits to 648359 farmers. A spokesman informed that out of the total procurement from various procurement centres in the State, the Government agencies procured 9478662 MT of paddy while 80735 MT has been procured by the millers. PUNGRAIN has procured 3877998 tonnes, MARKFED 2489510 tonnes and PUNSUP procured 1863927 tonnes while Punjab State Warehousing Corporation procured 1111616 MT paddy. The Centre government agency FCI has procured 135611 MT paddy.
7 arrested for consuming liquor at public place
Chandigarh: Five different cases under Section 68-1(B) Punjab Police Act 2007 & 510 IPC have been registered in Police Station, Sector 3 and 39, Chandigarh against seven persons who were arrested while consuming liquor at public places on Tuesday. Later they were released on bail.
Rally on theme ‘Harrows of Plastic’ to be conducted
Chandigarh: The Govt College of Arts in collaboration with Environment Department and Department of Public Relations, Chandigarh will conduct a rally on theme “Harrows of Plastic” under the umbrella campaign “ Plastickatimeup” . This will be the flashy and dramatic rally under which the students from Govt College of Arts, Chandigarh will present themselves in the demonic costumes to depict Single Use Plastic as the ghost that is haunting our environment. Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest will flag off the rally.
Haryana Police to take pledge on eKTA DIWAS
Chandigarh: Haryana Police will observe Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 31 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. A spokesman said, all officers and officials posted at Police headquarter would pledge to maintain the unity, integrity and security of the nation on this occasion. He said that pledge-taking ceremony and Run-for-Unity would also be held in all the districts to further boost the sentiments of unity, integrity and security of the nation. Apart from this, a special parade will also be held in Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban in the evening on October 31.
