SAD leaders calls on Hry CM

Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal’s entire leadership in Haryana called on the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here to congratulate on the historic success of BJP in the state. The BJP and SAD are alliance partners. The state party President Sharanjit Singh Sondh accompanied by district presidents and vice presidents in their meeting with the Chief Minister assured that “Just as SAD had worked tirelessly for the success of BJP candidates in the Parliament elections, the alliance partner would work doubly hard for the coming assembly elections in the state.” The SAD state president said that under the leadership of Khattar, Haryana had witnessed all round development which has translated into a historic victory.

SJVN organises inter school quiz competition

Shimla: To Commemorate the World Environment Day which is celebrated worldwide on June 5, SJVN organized an inter school quiz competition “Prakriti Khoj” for schools of Shimla and Solan district. The competiton was organized at Shakti Sadan, SJVN Corporate Head Quarters, Shana here. Dr Savita, chief wildlife warden, Himachal Pradesh was keynote speaker for the event and in her address she shared her experiences on Conservation of Biodiversity.  A total of 78 teams from Govt. and Public Schools participated in the quiz competition.  Saraswati Paradise International School, Sanjauli bagged 1st prize of Rs 15,000, Auckland House School, Shimla bagged 2nd Prize of Rs 12,000 and Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Sanjauli stood 3rd  and rewarded with Rs 9,000.   

 UT Congress unit asks RaGA to lead the party

Chandigarh:  At a meeting of Chandigarh Congress held under the chairmanship of city party chief Pardeep Chhabra, a resolution was passed to request Rahul Gandhi to take back resignation as President of India National Congress and lead the party from the front.  Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee has requested Rahul Gandhi to continue as chief of All India Congress Committee and acknowledges its faith with Rahul who has served the Congress with his hard work and true dedication for the last 15 years. One or two elections could not be a pointer to the future prospect of the party as Congress has served the people of this country for a long time after Independence, Chhabra said.

EDUSAT Broadcast schedule released 

Chandigarh: The Haryana Education Department has released EDUSAT Broadcast Schedule and time table for Secondary channel for the month June 2019. A spokesman said that a letter has been sent to all the district education officers of the state, district elementary education officer and all Junior Engineers of EDUSAT Project by Directorate of School Education. The soft copy of the programme is being distributed for the EDUSAT Broadcast Schedule and timetable in all the government schools (primary, middle and senior secondary) of the district, for the month of June 2019. More information could be obtained from the website http://www.schooleducationharyana.gov.in.

Hry takes action to curb alcohol, drug addiction

Chandigarh: Haryana Government will confer state award on individuals or organizations providing outstanding services to prevent alcohol and drug addiction. For this, the State Government has invited the applications for the year 2019-20 and the individuals or organisations will have to submit their applications in their concerned District Social Welfare Office latest by June 14 up to 4 pm. A spokesman said for this, the first prize will be of Rs 50,000, second of Rs 30,000 and third prize Rs 20,000. The categories included the Best Drug De-addiction Centre providing services for the prevention of alcohol and drug abuse, the Best Panchayat Raj Institution and Best Municipalities working for prevention of consumption of alcohol and intoxicants and the best schools and colleges working for spreading awareness regarding the ill effects of alcohol and intoxicants and their prevention.

IIM Sirmaur organises its first HR conclave

Paonta Sahib: Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur successfully organized its first HR conclave with the theme “Leading Disruptions in HR World” at the India International Centre, New Delhi on  May 26. The day-long event was structured around keynote speeches and panel discussions. The theme revolved around HR trends, skills and futuristic talent requirements that shall be essential to be at leading edge of innovation, and varied formats of disruption including digital and technological disruptions. The conclave was inaugurated by Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Director, IIM Sirmaur, in the presence of top HR leaders representing the corporate world, Public Sector Undertakings, start-ups as well as the academia.

IRSDC invites Industry to upgrade Ray Station

Chandigarh: Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC) in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized a roadshow for proposed infrastructure and commercial development at Chandigarh Railway Station on DBFOT basis, here. SK Lohia, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, IRSDC said, “IRSDC is the only nodal agency entrusted with the task of development and transformation of railway stations of the entire nation, and we shall take up this task phase-wise.”  Lohia shared that the development work has already begun in some form at 100 Indian railway stations and Chandigarh holds one of the top priority locations. A digital plan was also showcased during this session that visually represented the possibilities of transforming the Chandigarh station, together with upgradation of the road networks leading to it.

25 seats for PGD in Journalism at PU

Chandigarh: School of Communication Studies at Panjab University is set to begin two new diploma courses from the 2019-2020 session. A Post Graduate Diploma in  Journalism and Mass Communication and another in Radio Production will have 25 seats  each. The department is already running a diploma in Advertising and Public  Relations in addition to the Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication.  The two new Diploma courses have been planned keeping in mind the demands of  the society and future needs of the industry, said chairperson of School of Communication  Studies, Professor Archana R Singh said.

Tennis camp to be organised

Chandigarh: A 15-day long tennis camp will be organised at Hotel Mountview from June 1 to 15. The camp will be conducted under the supervision of professional coach and basics of tennis-- ball placement, racquet position, stamina drills, skill drills, hand-eye coordination skill and others- will be taught to the participants. The camp will be open for beginners, amateurs and professionals of all age groups. The interested can register themselves at the camp venue - Hotel Mountview before June 1. The enrollment fee for the camp is Rs 1500 . The organizer will also conduct exhibition matches at the end of the camp.

Workshop for ‘ Street Food Vendors’

Chandigarh: Sixth capacity building and training workshop was jointly organized by Dept. of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER and Municipal Corporation Chandigarh held at City Livelihood Centre, Community Sewa Kendra, Sector 25 here. More than 40 registered street vendors attended the same. The vendors received free ‘Street Food Vendors’ Hygiene Kit’ which included aprons, gloves, head covers and easy to understand IEC material. They also get free medical checkup by the doctors of Community Medicine, PGIMER.  MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36 participated in the venture to train the street food vendors.
