63 specialists , 235 para medical staff appointed
Chandigarh: To meet the shortage of specialists and para medical staff, Punjab Health & Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh handed over the appointment letters to 63 specialists & 235 para medical staff. He said, in order to provide quality healthcare services to the people of State, Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government had made the large number of recruitments under which 23 Gynaecologist, 18 Paediatrician, 5 Surgeon, 12 Medicine, 5 Psychiatrist have been appointed. He also instructed the Director NHM to allot stations near to their home town so they can passionately perform their duty.
Haryana Police seizes 9.100 kg ganja patti
Chandigarh: In another crackdown, Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Haryana Police has seized 9.100 kilogram (kg) ganja patti from Karnal district. The market value of a seized drug is around Rs 10 lakh. Police has also arrested one person in this connection. A spokesman of the Police Department said that arrested accused was identified as Raju, son of Chander parkash, a resident of Narela, Delhi. A case under the provisions of NDPS Act had been registered against them. The arrested accused was presented before the court, which sent him in three day police remand.
ut Police personnel honoured after retirement
Chandigarh: A welfare function was organized at GO’s Mess, Police Lines, Sector 26 here Chandigarh to honor the police personnel who retired from police services after attaining the age of superannuation. Shashank Anand, Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic & Security, Nilambari Jagadale, Senior Superintendent of Police/UT, Vineet Kumar, IPS, Superintendent of Police/City along with other officers was present at the function. The police officers who retired after attaining the age of superannuation are Baj Singh (Insp. ORP), Narinder Singh (Insp. ORP), Iqbal Singh (Insp. ORP), Tulsi Ram (Insp. ORP), Avtar Singh (SI ORP), Krishan Pal (SI ORP), Virender Singh (ASI. ORP), Kewal Singh (ASI/PR). All the retirees were honored with momentums and certificates.

Chandigarh: Reiterating to the State Government's commitment to provide full attention to the health of pregnant women and Lactating mothers, Punjab Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development, Aruna Chaudhary informed that since the launch of Prime Minister Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) from January 1, 2017 till November 26, 2019, a sum of rupees Rs 94,65,46,000 has been disbursed to 2, 47,506 beneficiaries. This amount has been transfer directly into the accounts beneficiaries.

Tewari seeks check dams in HP
Roopnagar (Ropar): Sri Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari has demanded construction of check dams in Himachal Pradesh to prevent floods in Ropar and Anandpur Sahib area. Tewari met the Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Delhi and brought to his notice the pressing need for such dams to prevent floods in downstream areas of Ropar and Anandpur Sahib in Punjab. The MP brought to the notice of the Minister the havoc created by the floods during the month of September this year.
MCC to honours schools
Chandigarh: Keeping in mind the goals towards sustainable development and to do away with single use plastics from our homes, the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh has planned to honour the schools, which collect plastic waste through school students generated at their households and incentivize the kids for this type of initiatives. KK Yadav, MC Commissioner appreciated the efforts of student’s team for initiating attempt to curb plastic pollution and create awareness about the harmful effects of plastic waste. The students have kick started the campaign recently that is being followed religiously, every Friday. Single use plastic items, such as bags, bottles, jars and the like are brought to school and collected by the team. The items are then packed on the premises and the Municipal Corporation Authorities transported to the MCC storage at industrial area, Phase-I, Yadav said.
PU global alumni meet concludes
Chandigarh: The second day of Global Alumni Meet 2019 being organized by Panjab University Alumni Association (PUAA), commenced with the tree plantation ceremony at Alumni House, Panjab University. Deadline for installation of SPV extended
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Administration has ordered to extend the deadline for installation of mandatory Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant for existing residential and non-residential buildings in Chandigarh by upto March 31, 2020. This shall be treated as last extension and non further extension shall be granted beyond aforesaid date, an order issued by UT Administration stated.
State level sensitization meeting in Pb
Chandigarh: The Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, in collaboration with Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) will organise a state-level sensitization meeting for strengthening hypertension services in Punjab on November 30 at Hotel Parkview. This meeting is a part of the GHAI-funded project which aims at mapping and engaging of elected representatives and bureaucratic ranks at district and state level to place hypertension on priority list of the state government. The meeting also envisages to generate the media support for hypertension services in the state by creating media case stories on patient diagnosis, treatment, compliance, and control. Punjab Health Minister, Balbir Singh Sidhu will be joining in as the chief guest for the event.
