If Cong wins, no registry fee for illegal colonies, pledges Chopra

Tuesday, 31 December 2019 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

Delhi Congress president Subhash Chopra on Monday said once Congress party comes to power in Delhi, all the unauthorised colonies in Delhi will be regularised on the pattern adopted by Indira Gandhi in 1976-77 for the regularisation of 612 unauthorised colonies without charging any registry fee.

Hitting hard on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), Chopra said that over 40 lakh people in unauthorized colonies have been betrayed due to the collusion between the BJP and AAP Governments, as they are yet to be given ownership rights, and notification for that.

Addressing a Halla Bol rally at Rangpuri Pahadi in South Delhi today, Chopra said that Congress will not make any hollow promise like the BJP and AAP, and it will tell the people only what the party can do when it comes to power.

Chopra said that the Modi Government also misled Parliament regarding regularization of unauthorized colonies, and the people of Delhi are now realizing this fact. He said that Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, in his Tweet, has not only validated Congress party’s charge, but also admitted that the BJP Government, in collusion with the AAP Government, has betrayed over 40 lakh people in unauthorized colonies.

He said that DDA’s authorized website has given that these colonies have not been regularized which clearly exposes the lie of the BJP and AAP.

He said that people in unauthorized colonies are forced to lead a miserable existence as the AAP Government has not done any development works in these colonies.
