By March 2020, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facilities would be available at 19 District Headquarters Hospitals; and in the remaining districts, ICUs would come up by 2021.
The decision was taken at the first State-level taskforce meeting of the Central Government scheme National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, CVD and Stroke (NPCDCS) here on Tuesday.
A decision was also taken to expand the geriatric wards for treatment of elderly persons at 13 DHHs in the current financial year. Currently, this facility is available in eight districts.
Similarly, by the end of the current financial year, two temporal bone laboratories would be set up in the ENT Department of the SCB Medical College Hospital.
Besides, Medical Officers and Staff Nurses would be provided training and daycare chemotherapy services would be provided in the DHHs. Presently, this facility is available in 26 hospitals.
National Rural Health Mission Director Shalini Pandit, Odisha State Medical Corporation Managing Director Yamini Sarangi and Joint Secretary Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar were, among others, present.
