The Leader of Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha and Haldwani MLA Indira Hridayesh will undertake a day-long protest fast today against the deteriorated condition of medical health facilities in the State. Addressing media persons at her residence here on Sunday, she said that dengue had assumed epidemic proportions in the State but the Government is ignoring this fact.
She said, “While the spread of dengue is expanding by the day, the government is making the situation worse by hiking the user charges in Government hospitals. In such a situation when the government should be providing all tests and other aids for free, it is busy in collecting money. I will be sitting on fast to protest against this.”
She further averred that the State Government had totally failed to tackle dengue. “There is a shortage of doctors in hospitals and the people are hassled.
Patients are not being admitted to Government hospitals. The Government is failing even to provide any alternate arrangement.
The Opposition will not sit silently on this issue. The medical health services are being ignored consistently by the State Government. If the State Government doesn’t wake up now, a jail bharo movement will be undertaken across the State. In stead of providing free medical services to the poor, the Government intends to increase its collection in the name of tests in Government hospitals. This will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” she stressed.
Hridayesh will sit on a day-long protest fast from 11 AM at Buddh Park in Tikoniya. The Mahanagar unit of the Congress has made necessary arrangements to make the protest a success.
The party’s Mahanagar chief Rahul Chimwal was also present at the Press conference.
