Haryana Government on Tuesday issued orders to revise the House Rent Allowance for its eligible employees with effect from August 1, 2019 as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.
Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu said that the State Government has issued these orders in compliance of announcement of the Chief Minister, Manohar Lal.
He said that according to the census of 2011, the employees of the State Government posted in various cities and towns will be given the revised House Rent Allowance.
He said that cities and towns having population 50 lakh and above are covered in the X category and the employees posted in such cities will get 24 per cent of House Rent Allowance subject to minimum of Rs 5400.
Similarly, he said that cities having population 5 lakh and above, but less than 50 lakh have been covered in the Y category and the employees posted in such cities will get 16 per cent of House Rent Allowance subject to minimum of Rs 3600.
He said that cities with population less than 5 lakh have been covered in the Z category and the employees posted in such cities would get 8 per cent House Rent Allowance subject to minimum of Rs.1800.
Capt Abhimanyu said that the tri-city of Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali would be treated as a single unit with the entitlement being as applicable in cities and towns classified as Y category.
The spokesman said that the revised rate of House Rent Allowance will be applicable with effect from August 1, 2019.
He said that the implementation of revised House Rent Allowance will benefit more than three lakh employees and there will be additional burden of Rs.1920 crore per annum on the state exchequer.
