The Commissionerate police on Friday conducted a raid at a hotel in the Nayapalli area here and arrested two staffs on the charges of allegedly installing hidden cameras in rooms and later blackmailing customers with the videos of their intimate moments.
The raid was conducted at hotel Oyo Sai Arya Residency on the basis of a complaint lodged by the woman who along with her partner had stayed in the hotel on November 5. Reports said the accused had shot a video of some private moments of the couple during their stay in the hotel. The video was reportedly filmed by a hidden camera installed in the key whole of the hotel room. Later, the accused demanded Rs 50,000 from the couple threatening to make the video viral on social media if money was not paid to them.
The complainant called the accused to CRP Square in the city to give the said money and nabbed them with the help of locals and informed the police.
The Nayapalli police are carrying out further investigations into the case.
However, the Oyo Hotels spokesperson said, “OYO Hotels and Homes is fully committed to ensuring the privacy, safety, and security of all guests. Any act of misconduct by any of our partner hotels or staffs falls under the zero-tolerance zone. We have already initiated action against the errant staff member and he has been suspended with immediate effect.”
