Honeytrapping not new but age old practice: Diggy’s bro

Monday, 30 September 2019 | PNS | Indore

n Congress legislator Laxman Singh here on Sunday said that honey trapping is nothing new but an age old practice.

Singh, the younger brother of party veteran Digvijay Singh, commenting on the ongoing controversy on honey trapping said that honey trapping was not a new thing.

He claimed that in the politics and war, we have been listening to this practice for decades. As fingers are being raised on several Congress and BJP leaders in connection with the scandal, Singh demanded that no one's character should be tainted as the probe into the matter was still on and the names of the guilty persons would be exposed soon.

The politician claimed that women were also used during world wars and in the times of Mahabharata. He however claimed that using women to obtain contracts was wrong.

The MLA claim that the SIT was carrying out an impartial probe so nothing should be said before the enquiry was complete. As the BJP is demanding a CBI probe into the matter, why not order a CBI probe along with the SIT enquiry.

Notably, the BJP has been demanding a CBI probe into the honey trapping scandal but Singh is the first Congress leader who has backed the opposition.

This is not the first time when Laxman Singh has kicked up a row with his off the cuff remarks. Recently the MLA had embarrassed his own party by claiming that farm loan waiver was not done in Madhya Pradesh adding that then party chief Rahul Gandhi should not have made this promise entailing exorbitant cost.
