A month after start of regular flights service from VSS Airport, Jharsuguda, the airport has witnessed high footfall for Delhi sector. This was informed by the VSS Airport Director Sudesh Kumar Chauhan.
In a Press briefing, VSS Airport Director Sudesh Kumar Chauhan said, "With an average rate of 93 per cent occupancy rate, Delhi-Jharsuguda-Delhi sector is a top performing sector, followed by Hyderabad-Jharsuguda-Hyderabad with an average occupancy rate of 70 per cent and Kolkata-Jharsuguda-Kolkata with an average occupancy rate of 60 per cent.
As per the data, in the last 28 days, a total of 9,850 passengers have travelled from VSS Airport, including 4,692 passengers arrived and 5,160 passengers departed.
The regular flight services (under UDAN Scheme) of Spice jet Airlines had commenced on March 31, for the three sectors Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata from VSS Airport. Additionally, VSS Airport is getting a very good response with an average footfall of 350 passengers per day and an overall occupancy rate of 75 per cent in all three routes together. However, Alliance Air (A wholly owned Subsidiary of Air India Limited) which has already set up its office but due to model code of conduct has not started its operation, is likely to start its service from May end or June first week.
