Regional Center of Indian Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert for Bastar region in southern Chhattisgarh has predicted that heavy rainfall will continue there for next 48 hours.
It has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in one or two places in Bastar. Though, the flood-like situation is prevailing all over the Bastar region the situation in Sukma is more alarming.
The flood-like situation is creating panic to the residents of Bastar as in some places, including in Sukma, people are being stranded and even the essential medical services are not reaching them.
According to information looking at the situation, the district administration has arranged makeshift hospitals to provide essential medical services, including delivery of baby by expectant mothers.
With the initiative of Sukma district Collector Chandan Kumar, a ten- bedded makeshift hospital has been arranged in remote Sukma as the people there are stranded and are unable to reach the district hospital. According to information, three women successfully gave child birth there on Tuesday.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Sukma, Siddharth Tiwari himself is reviewing the situation and is present at the spot to oversee rescue operations through boats.
