Haryana Cabinet will meet on February 4 to decide the schedule for the Budget Session of Vidhan Sabha.
“The Cabinet will meet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal at 3 pm on February 4,” said an official spokesman.
The issue of deciding the schedule for the budget session of Haryana Assembly was discussed at the informal routine Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday night at the residence of Chief Minister Manohar Lal.
Sources said that it is proposed to hold the Budget Session from February 15 or in the third week of February.
In view of upcoming Lok Sabha polls 2019, the Manohar Lal Khattar led State Government has planned to roll out various populist schemes and projects before the model code of conduct is enforced.
This would be Haryana Government’s fifth and final Budget and assumes significance as the State Assembly polls are also scheduled to be held in the State this year.
Kisan Pension Scheme, which is proposed to be launched by the State Government, was also discussed at the informal Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
The pension scheme for the farmers of the State would be among the key schemes to be announced by BJP led Haryana Government ahead of upcoming elections.
There are 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana and the farmers will hold the key for the major political parties in general elections.
The major political issue of construction of Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal will also find place in key projects and promises of the State Government in the upcoming budget. Apart from this, Government’s focus would be on rural development, industry and skill development in the State.
Notably, the State Government had proposed no fresh tax in its fourth budget for 2018-19, while keeping its size at Rs 1.15 lakh crore with focus on raising expenditure in key sectors including agriculture, education, health, industry and skill development.
