Guv favours quality edu in State

Governor Lalji Tandon has laid special emphasis on efforts to improve the quality of higher education in the State. Tandon has instructed to continuously monitor educational activities and teacher-student welfare efforts in the universities.

In this context, the 97th meeting of the state-level coordination committee is being organised at Raj Bhavan on September 30. Vice-Chancellors of all government and private universities and senior officials of various departments related to higher education system will be present.

Tandon has said that in the meeting creation of a road map to ensure implementation of reform works in higher education will be considered. An action plan to provide excellent levels of teacher-student welfare and other academic activities will also be discussed.

This meeting will form the platform for mutual exchange of outstanding works and innovations of various universities.

The Governor has got a detailed agenda prepared for the meeting of the State Level Coordination Committee. Information on reforms in higher education in other states has been collected and included in the agenda work plan. Principal Secretary Higher Education and the Secretary to the Governor visited Bihar state in this regard recently and got information about the improvement works done in the field of higher education there.

Important topics including guidelines for admission rules, providing facilities to economically weaker section, academic calendar for undergraduate, postgraduate, research, horticulture and journalism courses will be discussed in the meeting.

Each university will give information about the attendance of its students and professors and the work plan of reforms in NAAC and NIRF ranking on evaluation. Provisions regarding submission of online dissertation and thesis will be examined.

There will be a discussion on the rules of the University Grants Commission 2018 and granting credit to online courses. The UGC Regulation 2016 Credit Frame Work Online Learning Courses will also be discussed.
